Cesky Luterani is a way to not only name this United States Christian ministry, but to describe our Lutheran friends in the Czech Republic.Cesky Luterani has been in existence since the early 1990's when the Communist Party no longer had a grip on the country and Christianity was once again allowed to flourish. These Czech Lutherans are part of the Czech Evangelical Lutheran Church in fellowship with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), the Evangelical Lutheran Synod (ELS), and the Confessional Evangelical Lutheran Conference (CELC). Cesky Luterani is located in western part of the Czech Republic called Bohemia and based out of the city of Pilsen. There are challenges facing this small Christian body. Because Communism worked so hard against Christianity for over four decades, very few people, less than 10%, worship regularly. This poses a big challenge in a country that has been so blessed economically in the last few decades. Another challenge is that the pastors, Petr Krakora and Martin Vrsecky work full time in other jobs just to support themselves and their families.
